Zona "Skip" (Kavanaugh) Dunn
Zona "Skip" (Kavanaugh) Dunn, age 90, a resident of Hale, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2021, at her residence.
Zona was born the daughter of Charles and Rebecca (Dodson) Kavanaugh on May 11, 1930, in Tinney's Point, Missouri. She was a 1948 graduate of Braymer High School. Zona met and married the love of her life, Floyd Dunn, on July 25, 1948, in Hamilton, Missouri. Together they raised five children. He preceded her in death on April 14, 2014. Zona lived all over the Western United States when Floyd worked for USBR. This included stops in California (twice), Colorado, Iowa, Missouri, Montana, Washington and finally Arizona where they lived for over 15 years before they retired and returned to Hale, Missouri, in 1990. She was a 50 year member of the order of the Eastern Star, and a member of the Hamilton United Methodist Church.
Skip loved to play basketball when she was young and enjoyed watching her kids, grandkids and great grandchildren play sports!
Zona loved to play card games and was always competitive no matter who was playing. She was a wonderful cook and made the best Hydrox pudding. Skip was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Survivors include one son, Rick Dunn (Leslie) of Phoenix, Arizona; and two daughters, Charlotte Miller (Lee) of Hale, Missouri, and Rebecca Dunn of Lebanon, Missouri. She leaves a legacy of nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of nearly 67 years, Floyd J. Dunn; and two sons, Ron and Randy Dunn.
A family inurnment will be held at the Higginsville Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, Missouri on Friday June 25, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. A Celebration of life will follow at 4:30 p.m. at the Hale Baptist Church Hale, Missouri.
