Willie Thomas (Tom) Burtch
Willie Thomas (Tom) Burtch, age 79, a resident of Chula, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, July 8, 2021, at his residence.
Tom was born the son of Willie and Mary Helen (Kimbrough) Burtch on January 22, 1942, in Chillicothe, Missouri. He was a 1960 graduate of Meadville R-4 in Meadville, Missouri. Tom attended college at Northeast Missouri State University, Kirksville, Missouri. Tom was united in marriage to the love of his life, Linda Belle Cooper on July 7, 1963, at the First Baptist Church of Meadville, Meadville, Missouri. They shared 58 years together. She survives of the home. Tom and his father owned and operated Burtch Farms. He was a member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church, Purdin, Missouri. He served as president on the board for Mount Olive Cemetery.
Tom was the president of the Linn-Livingston Public Water District, Wheeling, Missouri. He was a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation in Chillicothe, Missouri, where he helped establish scholarships for students. He also served on the Meadville R-4 School Board. He was a member of the North Missouri Sportsman's Alliance. Tom loved to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, teaching them how to hunt and fish, and play school sports.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Burtch of the home; three children, Mendi Grannemann and husband, Larry of Williamsburg, Missouri, Tony Burtch and wife, Nancy of Chillicothe, Missouri, Holly Boxley and husband, Blake of Princeton, Missouri; five grandchildren, Ben, Tucker, and Sadie Burtch, Cooper and Evan Boxley; two step-grandchildren, Billy (Melanie) and Sybil Grannemann; one sister-in-law, Cheryl Cooper of Chandler, Arizona; and two brothers-in-law, George Cooper and wife Joy of Grain Valley, Missouri, and Richard Cooper and wife, Linda of Meadville, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and one brother-in-law, David Cooper.
Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Meadville, Meadville, Missouri, on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. There is no scheduled visitation. Friends may call at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Monday, July 12, 2021, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Mount Olive Cemetery, Meadville, Missouri.
