Bill Tye, age 77, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, died Saturday, April 30, 2011 at his residence. Bill was born August 29, 1933 in Lock Springs, Missouri, son of Ray and Grace (Cole) Tye. On August 28, 1955, he married Shirley Jean Clowdis, in Chillicothe, MO. He was a 1952 Chillicothe High School graduate. He also attended the University of Missouri and graduated in 1958 with a Bachelors Degree in Agricultural Engineering. He worked for Cooke Sales & Service from 1957 until 1972, where he was the Farm Department Manager. He joined his twin brother as a farmer for the Tye Farms in 1972. He was also a member of the Chillicothe Elks 656 and the United Methodist Church in Chillicothe. He was active with the Chillicothe Young Farmers, and a 4-H and FFA Board member for over 30 years and was honored a place in the Fair Legendary Hall of Fame at the Jenkins Center. He also served in the U. S. National Guard in Chillicothe Battery Battalion 129th division for ten years. Bill is survived by his wife, Shirley, of the home, two daughters, Janet Humphrey and husband Stanley of Gallatin, Missouri, and Sharon Lawless and husband Kelly of Osage City, Kansas; one son, Randall Tye of Springfield, Missouri; five grandchildren, Jacob Humphrey and wife Erin of North Kansas City, Missouri, Tye Humphrey of Gallatin, Missouri, Julie Lawless, Jacquelyn Lawless, and Johnny Lawless of Osage City, Kansas, and one twin brother, Tom Tye and wife Virginia of Chillicothe. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Dixie Lay and Maxine Wilson.
