William Thomas Smith, Sr.
William Thomas Smith, Sr., age 84, a resident of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on Friday, November 23, 2018, at his residence.
William was born the son of Elzie L. and Lillie Mae (White) Smith on July 23, 1934, in Avilla, Missouri. He was a 1952 graduate of Carthage High School. He was united in marriage to Lina Lou Cummins on June 28, 1953, in Webb City, Missouri. She preceded him in death on May 14, 2010. William attended Northwest Bible College in Kirkland Washington, while he worked for Boeing Aircraft Company. He retired from T.W.A. in 1996. He was also a minister for several Assembly of God Churches for many years. He was a member of the Calvary Temple Assembly of God Church, Kansas City, Missouri. William was also a member of the International Association of Machinists Local 1650.
Survivors include two sons, William Thomas Smith, Jr. and wife Susan of Blue Springs, Missouri, and Timothy Wayne Smith and wife Janet of Kansas City, Missouri; four grandchildren, Philip, Stephen, David, and Stephanie; six great grandchildren, Payton, Lyla Mae, Jadon, Atlee, Avalina, and Karsen; one sister, Connie Sue Bowers and husband Carroll of Cassville, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lina Lou; and two brothers, Kenneth G. and Franklin Lee Smith.
Funeral services will be held at the Northland Cathedral, 101 NW 99th Street, Kansas City, Missouri 64155, on Wednesday, November 28, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. A scheduled visitation will be held at the Northland Cathedral, Kansas City, Missouri, on Wednesday, November 28, 2018, one hour prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Entombment will be held at Mt. Washington Forever Cemetery, Independence, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O.
