William Leroy Layman

William Leroy Layman William Leroy Layman, 94, a resident of Lafayette, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2016. Leroy was born the son of William and Bertie (Dudgeon) Layman on May 28, 1921, in Stet, Missouri. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War. After his military service, he was employed by the U.S. Small Business Administration and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Leroy was united in marriage to Shirley Ruth Greenstreet on December 27, 1941, in Chillicothe, Missouri. She preceded him in death on March 25, 2010. Survivors include: one son, Terry Layman and wife Margaret, Chaddleworth, England; two daughters, Patricia Short and husband Herbert, London, England, and Sandra Layman, Lafayette, Indiana; and two sisters, Mary Francis Russell, Madison, Kansas, and Freta Dooley, Richmond, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife Shirley. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 24, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at the State Veterans Cemetery, Jacksonville, Missouri.
