William R. Henry, age 81, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at Liberty Hospital, Liberty, Missouri. On May 6, 1930 William was born the son of Clifford and Marguerite Henry in Greenfield, Missouri. He was a 1948 graduate of Concordia High School, Concordia, Missouri. William graduated from Southwest Missouri State University in 1952 with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. William furthered his education and graduated with a Master's Degree in 1956 from the University of Missouri Columbia. On September 26, 1952, he was married to Thelma Joanne Murray in Rolla, Missouri. She survives of the home. From 1956 until 1985 he taught high school math at Niles Township High School in Skokie, Illinois. William served his country as a sergeant in the 36th Combat Engineer Group of Korea from 1953 to 1954. He attended the H. Roe Bartle Scout Camp in Osceola, Missouri as an adult leader, served as a leader in the Boy Scouts, was a member of the Tribe of Mic- O- Say under the name of Sachem Yellow Hornet, was a Merit Badge Advisor for Troop 120, and was a member of Sigma Tau Gamma, Alpha Phi Omega, and Phi Delta Kappa. He also enjoyed collecting coins. Survivors include two sons, Robert Alan Henry and wife Linda of Plymouth, Minnesota, and Jack Murray Henry of Chillicothe, Missouri; one brother, Philip Henry and wife Jo Ann of Abbeville, South Carolina; one brother-in-law, John E. Bliss of Leavenworth, Kansas; four grandchildren, Michael Joseph Henry and wife Amanda of Cold Spring, Minnesota, Elizabeth Susan Henry of Eugene, Oregon, Sara Westly and husband Brian of Plymouth, Minnesota, and Kelly Cramer of Plymouth, Minnesota; three great grandchildren, Zachary Randall Henry of Cold Spring, Minnesota, and Colton and Gage Westly of Plymouth, Minnesota; one niece, Kathy Schulz of St. Petersburg, Florida; two nephews, Jim Bliss of Leavenworth, Kansas, and Brian Henry of Abbeville, South Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri on Monday, September 5, 2011 from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Interment will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery, Braymer, Missouri.
