William E. "Bill" Feeney, age 80, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at Hedrick Medical Center, Chillicothe, Missouri. Bill was born in rural Wheeling, Missouri, on April 13, 1931, the son of Raymond W. and Alice Mary (Stapleton) Feeney. He attended Wheeling High School and moved to Kansas City to work for General Motors. On March 9, 1951, he joined the United States Air Force in Kansas City, Missouri. He actively served until March 3, 1954, when he joined the reserves. Bill spent his life in Livingston County, Missouri, where he was engaged in farming. He owned and operated Feeney Farm, Inc., and Lock Springs Grain Elevator with his sons. On March 9, 1995, he married Shirley Jean Whalen on Marco Island, Florida. Their marriage was blessed at St. Columban Catholic Church, Chillicothe, Missouri. Bill was an avid baseball fan and a proud supporter of the Kansas City Royals. Survivors include his wife Shirley Feeney of Chillicothe, Missouri; sons Mike Feeney of Chillicothe, Missouri, John Feeney of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Terry Feeney and wife Shanda of Chillicothe, Missouri; daughters Patricia Kennedy of Wheeling, Missouri, and Mary Smith and husband Terry of Chillicothe, Missouri; stepchildren Kathy Carr and husband Roger of Chillicothe, Missouri, Pennie Eads and husband Jeff of Jamesport, Missouri, and Casey Turnbull and wife Marcia of Kansas City, Missouri; sister Delores DeVaul of Chillicothe, Missouri; 15 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, and sister Mary Elizabeth Feeney. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Columban Catholic Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Monday, April 25, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. A parish rosary will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Sunday, April 24, 2011, at 5:00 p.m., with family visitation to follow. Friends may call Lindley Funeral Home on Sunday, April 24, 2011, from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Burial will be held in Leopolis Cemetery, Wheeling, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to Leopolis Cemetery-St. Patrick's Cemetery Association and can be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, PO Box 47, Chillicothe, MO 64601.
