William Gene Delisle

William Gene DeLisle, age 89, a resident of Cowgill, Missouri, formerly of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2019, at Golden Age Nursing Home, Braymer, Missouri.
Bill was born the son of William and Ida (Haslip) DeLisle on October 25, 1930, in Ozark, Missouri. His father passed away when Bill was twelve years old. He and his sisters, grandfathers, uncles, mother, and the rest of his siblings helped on the family farm to provide for the family. He graduated from high school in 1948. After high school, he worked for two years at the cheese factory in Ozark, Missouri, before enlisting in the Air Force. William served in the United States Air Force for four years, in California, Wyoming, Louisiana, and Sedalia, Missouri. Following his service in the Air Force, he was a Tech Sargent in the Reserves for eight years. He went on to earn a degree in Business Administration from Southwest Missouri University. For thirty three years, he worked for the Internal Revenue Service as a Field Agent, Office Audit Supervisor, Program Manager, and Branch Chief in Kansas City, Missouri, and Memphis, Tennessee. He spent twenty years preparing tax returns for the elderly. Bill was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Springfield, Missouri.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Ann DeLisle of the home; two sisters, Doris Tilton of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, and Donna Barnett and husband Richard of Nixa, Missouri; one brother, Jim DeLisle and wife Barbara of Topeka, Kansas; one sister-in-law, Charlene DeLisle of Ozark, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Eileen Stockton, Ruth Cole, and Linda Rothermel; one brother, Bob DeLisle; and five brothers-in-law, Kent Stockton, Victor Cole, Charles Tilton, Loren Brookshier, and Ralph Firth; and two sisters-in-law, Frances Brookshier, and DeLoris Firth.
Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, Missouri on Monday, December 23, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. A scheduled visitation will be held at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, Missouri, on Monday, December 23, 2019, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, Missouri, on Sunday, December 22, 2019, from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Burial will be at Cowgill Cemetery, Cowgill, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
