William Albert Gibson Jr.
William (Bill) Albert Gibson Jr., age 88, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at his home in Chillicothe, Missouri, in the company of his loving family.
Bill was born the son of William Albert and Mary Elizabeth (Regan) Gibson on January 22, 1933, in Sturgis, Missouri. He graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1951. Bill served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Bill was joined in marriage to Mary JoAnn Johnson on January 27, 1957, at St. Columban Catholic Church in Chillicothe, Missouri.
Bill was well-known in the community as manager at Mart Drugstore and later with his wife as the owner-operators of Geier's Gifts bridal and gift store. In his free time, Bill especially loved playing and listening to ragtime piano music, painting landscapes and other nature scenes, antiquing, dancing, and collecting coins and fine crystal glassware. Bill enjoyed regularly attending the Grand River Multi-Purpose Center with his wife for events and to visit with friends over lunch.
Bill is survived by his wife, JoAnn of the home; daughter, Mary "Gibson" Garr and husband Mark of Chillicothe, Missouri; son, Kevin Gibson and wife Beverly of Lewisville, Texas; two grandsons, Zachary Garr of Kansas City, Missouri and Aaron Gibson of Lewisville, Texas; one granddaughter, Sarah Gibson Leal and husband Francisco of Denton, Texas; one great granddaughter, Rachel Gibson of Lewisville, Texas; and one great grandson, Liam Gibson of Lewisville, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James Gibson and Raymond Gibson; and his sister, Mary Jean Davies.
Private family services will be held on Saturday, July 3, 2021. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, July 2, 2021, from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri.
