William "Marvin" Balman

William "Marvin" Balman William "Marvin" Balman, age 89, a resident of Chula, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2014, at Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital, Columbia, Missouri. Marvin was born the son of Jesse Oran and Della Mae (Clingingsmith) Balman on December 31, 1924, at Rozel, Kansas. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Marvin was united in marriage to Viola Rose Collins on February 10, 1949, in Chillicothe, Missouri. She preceded him in death on January 4, 2001. Marvin was a lifelong farmer in Chula, former member of the Trenton American Legion Major Dale Stepp Post #31, a member of the Chula Baptist Church and a member of Lathrop Living History Festival and Small Farmers Reunion. Survivors include three sons, John Balman and wife Debbie of Purdin, Missouri, Everett Balman and wife Martha of Richmond, Missouri, and Jesse Balman of Chula, Missouri; two grandchildren, Amanda Garland and husband Greg of Richmond, Missouri, and John Caleb Balman of Kansas City, Missouri; and two great grandchildren, Abigail Mackenzie Garland and Anna Olivia Garland. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Viola; infant son, Floyd Elton Balman on May 12, 1959; two granddaughters, DaLena Rose and Hannah Marie Balman; one grandson, William Lloyd Balman; and one sister, Mary Ellen Powers. Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, December 4, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. A scheduled family visitation will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Wednesday, December 3, 2014, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Wednesday, December 3, 2014, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Stucker Cemetery, Laredo, Missouri. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
