Wesley Eugene Toomay

February 28, 1944 — September 18, 2018

Wesley Eugene Toomay Wesley "Wes" Eugene Toomay, 74, of Gravois Mills, Missouri passed away September 18, 2018 after a brave and aggressive battle with MDS and AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia).  He passed away at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City surrounded by his loving family. Wes was born to Willard and Kathryn (Hoover) Toomay on February 28, 1944 in Kansas City, Missouri.  He was united in marriage to Altha Sanger from Morland, Kansas on November 10, 1968. Wes grew up in Braymer, Missouri graduating from Braymer C-4 High School in 1962.  He attended Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg and also served in the National Guard.  Wes worked for Fast Food Merchandisers as an executive for over 30 years. He continued to operate the family farm, with his brother in Braymer after the death of his parents.  After retiring, he enjoyed traveling whether by, car, plane, RV or by ship with his wife spanning across 49 states and 5 continents, often making new friends along the way. Throughout his life, Wes was an avid hunter with countless great hunts spent with his brother, nephews, son and friends from all stages of his life.  He enjoyed field trials and the life-long memories, both from his dogs and the community of people with the same passion for the sport. His dedication and devotion was rewarded through serving as President of the Topeka Kansas Retriever Club. He judged trials across the United States and Canada, with the ultimate reward of his dog Foxy, winning the Canadian National Field Trial.    Wes enjoyed boating and being on the water.  He looked forward to spending summer weeks and weekends with family and friends at a variety of lakes across Missouri.  He and Altha made Gravois Mills their home after retiring, with trips south to Texas where a new chapter of friends and experiences were created. Wes loved spending time with his granddaughters Carson and Quinn.  They were truly the "apple of his eye". Wes and Altha loved taking trips with the girls.  They made many special memories with their granddaughters at their home on the lake. Wes is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 50 years, Altha.  He leaves to cherish his memory one son, Brian Toomay and wife Stacey; two granddaughters Carson and Quinn of Des Peres, Missouri, one brother, Terry Toomay and wife Kathy of Liberty, Missouri as well as several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial services will be held on Monday, September 24, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home Braymer, Missouri.
