Wendell Kirkland

Wendell "Kirk" Kirkland Wendell "Kirk" Kirkland, age 69, a resident of Farmersville, Missouri, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2011, at his residence. Wendell was born the son of Troy and Mildred (Moore) Kirkland on May 11, 1942, in Wetumka, Oklahoma. He was united in marriage to Ilene Merriott on August 25, 1962, in Farmersville, Missouri. She survives of the home. He was a member of the United States Air Force during the Cuban Missile Crisis from 1962-1965. He was employed as truck driver for Hinnen Hauling; he later worked as a dry wall contractor, and most recently worked for the Missouri Department of Conservation as a bulldozer operator for 18 years. He was a devout Christian, loved wood working, and being outdoors. Survivors include his wife Ilene of the home; one son, Dale Kirkland and wife Michelle of Chillicothe, Missouri; one daughter, Dana Weatherford and husband Brent of Chillicothe, Missouri; two brothers, Lloyd Kirkland of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, William Kirkland of Colorado; three sisters, Delores Collins of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Norma Cook of Cookson, Oklahoma, Diana Anderson of Senatobia, Mississippi; four grandchildren, Kenneth O'Dell, Jr. of Flint, Michigan, Shaun O'Dell of Memphis, Missouri, Bradley Ogle of Chillicothe, Missouri, Joshua Kirkland of Chillicothe, Missouri; four great-grandchildren, Morgan and Garret O'Dell of Flint, Michigan, Alexis and Lillian O'Dell of Memphis, Missouri; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister; two brothers. Funeral services will be held at the Cornerstone Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, December 29, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. A family visitation will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Wednesday, December 28, 2011, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call the funeral home on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Chillicothe, Missouri.
