Warren George Culling

Warren Culling Warren Culling, age 97, a resident of Mooresville, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2017, at St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri. Warren was born the son of Ira and Dorothy (Walz) Culling on October 31, 1920, in Utica, Missouri. He was a 1937 graduate from Chillicothe High School. After High School Warren attended the Chillicothe Business College for 2 years. He then went to work for the railroad as a comptroller. In 1942 he enlisted in Naval Cadet training to become a pilot for the Marine Air Corps. His squadron flew many missions over the South Pacific doing area mapping. After the war, Warren attended University of California Berkley and earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. He then worked for Howard Hughes Aircraft for 3 years training people on automatic fire control systems. In 1954 he returned to the family farm with his 1952 Stinson Voyager aircraft. On February 1, 1964 he was united in marriage with Patricia Blair in Hale, Missouri. She preceded him in death on February 3, 2011. Warren was an aviation enthusiast and was a member of the Flying Farmers and EAA Chapter 944. He also enjoyed repairing televisions and doing electrical wiring.     Survivors include one step son, Craig Carlton and wife Kim of Springdale, Arkansas; one step daughter, Lisa Whetstine of Mulberry, Arkansas; one niece, Jennifer Gozia and husband Jim of Carl Junction, Missouri, and a close friend, Barrie Bothwell and wife Julie of Mooresville, Missouri. He is also survived by three step grandchildren, Chelsea and Colton Whetstine and Lindsey Lowrey. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Pat and one sister Lucetta Culling. Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at 11:00 AM. A family visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Tuesday November 28, 2017 from 10:00 AM until service time. Friends may call on Monday November 27, 2017 from 12 noon until 6:00 PM at the Lindley Funeral Home Chillicothe, Missouri. Burial will be held at Utica Cemetery, Utica, Missouri.
