Walter Bonderer

Walter Joseph Bonderer Walter Joseph Bonderer, age 90, a resident of Chillicothe, MO passed away on June 15th, 2016 at Morningside Center. Walt was born on January 7th, 1926 in Utica MO to Frank and Mary Bonderer. He was the fifth of twelve children. The family moved to the Chillicothe area shortly after he was born. Walt attended country schools until his freshman year when he attended St. Joseph Academy in Chillicothe. He entered the Army in June of 1952 and was discharged in June of 1954. After military service he returned home and farmed with his brothers, Al and Franklin. He married Vella Linville Buttman on August 13th, 1966. She survives of the home. Walt continued farming until 1996 when he retired. He was a lifelong member of St. Columban's Church in Chillicothe and was a member of the Vern R. Glick American Legion Post No. 25. Walt enjoyed farming, music, dancing, and spending time with his large extended family. Survivors are: his wife Vella, his son David Buttman and wife, Jenny of Chillicothe; three grandsons, Scott Finley and wife Emily of Shawnee, KS, Jack Finley and wife Heather of Tucson, AZ, and Dan Buttman of Liberty, MO; two granddaughters, Emily Baxter and husband Clint of Kearney, MO, and Erica Buttman of Liberty, MO; eight great grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Survivors also include one sister, Virginia Wilson of Pueblo West, CO, and one brother, Blaise Bonderer OSB, of Conception Abbey, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Brenda Buttman, six brothers and three sisters, Maurice, Bernard, Rachel Coburn, Catherine Garr, Helen Wilson, Albert, Franklin, John, and David. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Columban's Catholic Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Monday, June 20, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. A Parish Rosary will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Sunday June 19, 2016, at 5:00 p.m. with a visitation to follow. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, Sunday, June 19, 2016, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Columban's Catholic Cemetery and/or Edgewood Cemetery and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
