Vivian Alice O'Dell

Vivian Alice O'Dell, age 83, a resident of Hale, Missouri, passed away on Monday, April 25, 2011, at Liberty Hospital, Liberty, Missouri. Vivian was born three and a half miles southeast of Hale, Missouri, on September 29, 1927, the daughter of Russell and Audrey (Haynes) Parks. She was a 1945 graduate of Hale High School. On February 12, 1946, she married Victor O'Dell in Chillicothe, Missouri. They moved to a farm three miles east of Hale, Missouri, where they spent all of their married lives. He preceded her in death on January 3, 2000. She was an active member of Hurricane Baptist Church for over 50 years, where she taught Sunday School, helped with Bible School and was church treasurer for over 40 years. She was a member of Clione Club at one time, and served as president, secretary and treasurer. She was also a member of Vern R. Glick Post No. 25 American Legion Auxiliary and the VFW Chapter 3464 of Hale, where she served as President and served on several committees. Survivors include sons Lonnie O'Dell and wife Linda of Hale, Missouri and Donnie O'Dell and wife Joan of Berryton, Kansas; daughter Diane Wohlgemuth and husband Scott of Mendon, Missouri; sister Ruth A. Johnson and husband Ivan of Norborne, Missouri; grandchildren Kyle O'Dell of Kansas City, Missouri, Kirk O'Dell and wife Billie of Bosworth, Missouri, Duane O'Dell and wife Tara of Hale, Missouri, Ronnie Wohlgemuth and wife Tracy of Carrollton, Brian Wohlgemuth and wife Mel of Kellogg, Iowa, Edward O'Dell of Chanute, Kansas, and LeeAnna O'Dell of Topeka, Kansas; and great grandchildren Emmalee O'Dell of Hale, Missouri, Victoria O'Dell of Hale, Missouri, Cale O'Dell of Hale, Missouri, Charlie Wohlgemuth of Carrollton, Missouri, Sally Wohlgemuth of Carrollton, Missouri, Kaitlyn O'Dell of Bosworth, Missouri, and Gavin O'Dell of Bosworth, Missouri. She loved her family very much and enjoyed every day of her life with them. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother Gerald Parks. It was a great life. Funeral services will be held at Hale Baptist Church on Thursday, April 28, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. Family visitation will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Hale, Missouri, on Wednesday, April 27, 2011, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call Lindley Funeral Home, Hale, Missouri, after 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Burial will be held in Hurricane Cemetery, Hale, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to Elizabeth Cemetery and can be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, PO Box 47, Chillicothe, MO 64601.
