Virginia "Evelyn" Griffith

Virginia "Evelyn" Griffith Virginia "Evelyn" Griffith, age 91, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2013, at Morningside Center, Chillicothe, Missouri. Evelyn was born the daughter of Frank J. and Hattie E. (Hill) Fair on April 25, 1921, in Corydon, Iowa. She was a graduate of Trenton High School, Trenton, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Earl Collins Griffith on August 11, 1940, in Trenton, Missouri. He preceded her in death on September 7, 1997. Evelyn was a member of the Chillicothe United Methodist Church, Hospital Auxiliary Chapter T.P.E.O., the Chillicothe Culture Club, and the Chillicothe United Methodist Women R.S.V.P., and a former member of the Mount Olive Methodist Church. She delivered meals on wheels, and served as a Cub Scout Leader and Sunday School Teacher. Evelyn volunteered at Dewey School, Hedrick Medical Center, House of Prayer, Red Cross, and R.S.V.P. Survivors include three sons, David E. Griffith and wife Leigh of Jefferson City, Missouri, Steve Griffith and wife Shirley of Lee's Summit, Missouri, and Mark F. Griffith and wife Cyndi of Overland Park, Kansas; six grandchildren, Kimberly Bellof and husband Brian of Kansas City, Missouri, Michael Griffith and wife Gwen of Jefferson City, Missouri, Jeffrey Griffith and wife Taylore of Blue Springs, Missouri, Amy Brown and husband Colin of Lee's Summit, Missouri, John Griffith of Overland Park, Kansas, and Christopher Griffith and wife Becky of Overland Park, Kansas; and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Earl; two infant daughters, Carol and Carolyn Griffith; two sisters; and one brother. Funeral services will be held at the United Methodist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. A scheduled family visitation will be held at the United Methodist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Tuesday, February 5, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Monday, February 4, 2013, from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri.
