Virginia Ruth Bennett Virginia Ruth Bennett, 81, of Liberty, Missouri, died at Liberty Terrace Healthcare Center, Liberty Missouri on Friday, December 2, 2011. She was born May 5, 1930, the daughter of Floyd A. and Stella M. (Gale) Thompson in St. Joseph, Missouri. She lived in Maysville and LaPlata as a young child. She grew up in Chillicothe and was a 1948 graduate of Chillicothe High School and attended Chillicothe Business College. On May 9, 1954, she married Gene E. Bennett in Chillicothe, Missouri. He survives of their home in Liberty, Missouri. Mrs. Bennett worked at the Kit, Somerville, and Cleveland law office from 1949-1957. She was a homemaker as she stayed home with their two children from 1957-1969, at which time she became secretary to the assistant principal/athletic director at Chillicothe High School until her retirement in 1993. Virginia was a member of the United Methodist Church in Chillicothe, the Joanna Circle, and the Bizzy Belles Extension Club. In earlier years, she was involved with the Jaycees, Chillicothe Bridge Club, and was a Cub Scout parent leader. She had clerked for Mike Miller and Daryl Danner auctioneers. She is also survived by a son, Jeffrey E. Bennett and his wife, Cheryl (Yeomans); a daughter, Laurie J. (Bennett) Hutchison and her husband, Dan Hutchison; five grandchildren, Katie E. and Jessica D. Bennett, and Brant G., Megan E., and Drew B. Hutchison. She was preceded in death by her parents and infant twin brothers, Ralph R. and Robert R. Thompson. A Celebration of Life service will be at the United Methodist Church in Chillicothe on Monday, December 5, 2011, at 11:00 am. A family visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church. Friends may call at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri on Sunday, December 4, 2011 from 12:00 noon to 9:00 pm. There will be a private family burial at Edgewood Cemetery in Chillicothe, Missouri.
