Virgil Leroy Weis, age 85, a resident of Hillcrest Manor, Hamilton, Missouri, formerly of Braymer, Missouri, passed away on Monday, August 19, 2019.
Virgil was born the son of Claude and Pauline (Wiley) Weis on May 24, 1934, in Beverly, Kansas. Around the age of seven, his family moved to the Braymer, Missouri, area, where Virgil spent his whole life. He graduated from Braymer High School in 1953. In 1954, he joined the United States Army, where he served honorably. Virgil was united in marriage to Lettie Fitzwater, also of Braymer, on January 15, 1955, in Kingston, Missouri. To this union, three children were born. They were married for 64 years. Upon his return home from the Army, they started a lifelong career as farmers, and had a Grade A Dairy for many years.
After retiring from the dairy business, Virgil had several other jobs as they continued to farm. He was a hard worker and was always doing something. He sold insurance for Caldwell County Insurance for many years. He was a janitor at the Braymer School for several years. Virgil then drove a school bus for over 20 years.
Survivors include his wife, Lettie, of Hillcrest Manor, Hamilton, Missouri; one daughter, Brinda Prichard and husband Paul, of rural Hamilton, Missouri; one son, Chad Weis, of Greenridge, Missouri; one daughter-in-law, Kerry Glittenberg, of Rowlett, Texas; six grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Leonard Weis, of Braymer, Missouri; and three sisters, Yvonne Murray, of Braymer, Missouri, Mary McBee, of Braymer, Missouri, and Judy Claypole, of Polo, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Scott Weis; and one brother, Rodney Weis.
Graveside services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Braymer, Missouri, on Friday, August 23, 2019, at 1:30 p.m. There is no scheduled visitation. Friends may call at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, Missouri, on Friday, August 23, 2019, from 8:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Evergreen Cemetery and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O.
