Violet Marie Baldwin Violet Marie Baldwin, age 97, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away at Morningside Center in Chillicothe on July 15, 2011. She was born on May 2, 1914, the daughter of John W. and Jessie (Carlton) Phipps in Shambaugh, Iowa. On October 5, 1944, she married Roy Harrison, he preceded her in death on February 16 of 1972. On December 30, 1979, in Chillicothe, Missouri, she married James Baldwin. He preceded her in death on October 29 of 1981. Violet moved to Chillicothe, Missouri from Wayne, Michigan in 1973. She worked as a beautician in Michigan and Chillicothe. She loved to make quilts, crochet, make vegetable and flower gardens, play cards with her friends and travel. Violet was a six generation grandmother. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri and was involved in church leadership groups such as WMU and Denya Mattox Circle. Survivors include one daughter, Dorothy Bussell of Carrollton, Missouri; one step son, Melvin Harrison and wife Willa of Wayne, Michigan; one step daughter in-law, Maureen Harrison of Omaha, Nebraska; one brother, John Phipps of Eldon, Missouri; one sister, Ruby Clampett of Clarence, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Edward Bussell, Jr. of Preston, Missouri, Christine Hughes of Blue Springs, Missouri, Emmet Bussell of Kansas City, Kansas, Joe Bussell of Boonville, Missouri, Michael Harrison and wife Linda of South Lyon Michigan, Anita Evans of Peculiar, Missouri, Marsha Parker and Husband Larry of Omaha, Nebraska and Jean Carson of Omaha, Nebraska; sixteen great grandchildren, twenty four great great grandchildren, six great great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Roy Harrison and husband James Baldwin; son in-law, Edward Bussell, Sr; great grandson Ronnie Pennington; three brothers, Charles, Harold, and Glenn (Pete) Phipps; three Sisters, Thelma Foley, Ruth Martin and Lola Chambless; two stepsons, Clifford and Carl Harrison and one step daughter in-law, Norma Harrison. Services will be held Thursday, July 21, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 20, 2011from 6 to 8:00 p.m. at Lindley Funeral Home. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery in Chillicothe, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church or American Heart Association and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
