Vera Loraine "Lo" Odendaal, age 74, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2019, at North Kansas City Hospital, North Kansas City, Missouri.
Lo was born the daughter of Allastair and Batsheba (Joubert) Campbell on November 19, 1944, in Africa. She attended and graduated from Umtali Girls School in Zimbabwe, Africa. Lo was united in marriage to Don V. Odendaal on January 25, 1964, in Zimbabwe, Africa. He survives of the home. She was a member of Cornerstone Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, where she was very active in their food program, prison ministries, and served as a greeter with her husband.
Survivors include her husband, Don Odendaal of the home; two sons, Tommy Odendaal and wife Julie of Summerfield, North Carolina, and Ralph Odendaal and wife Sally of Newbold Coleorton, England; seven grandchildren; and three sisters, Myrtle Koekemoer of South Africa, Susanna and Richard Hotchkiss of Zimbabwe, Africa, and Ellie and Rodney Hein of Mozambique, Africa. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held at the Cornerstone Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, July 26, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. There is no scheduled visitation. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, July 25, 2019, from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Houtberg Children's Home/Cornerstone Church and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
