Velda Rae O'Dell, age 83, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2019, at Morningside Center, Chillicothe, Missouri.
Velda was born the daughter of Ray Clifton and Mary Lydia (Lein) Molloy on February 11, 1936, in Laredo, Missouri. She was a 1954 graduate of Laredo High School. She was united in marriage to Stanley O'Dell on May 22, 1954, in Chillicothe, Missouri. He preceded her in death on May 13, 2014. Velda and Stanley owned and operated Red Ball Salvage in Chillicothe from 1975 until 2014. She was a member of the Alpha Baptist Church, Laredo, Missouri. She attended Calvary Baptist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri. Velda enjoyed gardening, flowers, and bird watching. She won Yard of the Month with the Chillicothe Garden Club. She loved Branson country music shows. Velda put everyone before herself and walked with the Lord.
Survivors include one daughter, Kathy O'Dell of Excelsior Springs, Missouri; two grandchildren, Natalie McLean and husband Joe of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, and Rachel Trump of Chillicothe, Missouri; four great grandchildren, Madi Enloe, Cassidy Trump, Mark Riley Trump, and Lydia McLean; one great-great grandson, Jaice Stanley Enloe; two sisters, Evelyn K. Faubion and husband Tom of Warrensburg, Missouri, and Marjory Cox of Stanberry, Missouri; sister-in-law, Betty O'Dell of Chillicothe, Missouri; brother-in-law, Vernon O'Dell and wife Joy of Ft. Myers, Florida; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Stanley; one daughter, Carol Ann O'Dell; one brother, Lowell Clifton Molloy; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Cox.
Funeral services will be held at the Calvary Baptist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Monday, April 1, 2019, 10:00 a.m. There is no scheduled visitation. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Sunday, March 31, 2019, from 12 noon until 5:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Alpha Cemetery, Laredo, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church and/or St. Luke's Hospice and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
