Veda F. Hughes Veda F. Hughes, age 88, a resident of Dawn, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at Morningside Center, Chillicothe, Missouri. Veda was born the daughter of Harley and Tabitha (Powers) McCracken on February 13, 1924, in Livingston County, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Hall W. Hughes on August 20, 1946, in Carrollton, Missouri. He preceded her in death on June 29, 1996. She began her working career at Bosses Glove Company as a seamstress, and spent the rest of her life working in her garden and spending quality time with her family. Survivors include one son, Bill Hughes and wife Martha of Dawn, Missouri; four grandchildren, Shelley Roberts and husband Todd of Mooresville, Missouri, Sherryl Garcia and husband Kenny of Chillicothe, Missouri, Sindy Fitzpatrick of Chillicothe, Missouri, and Shawn Hughes and wife Kristi of Mooresville, Missouri; ten great grandchildren, Quinn Roberts, Shelby Barrick, Cortney Roberts, Anthony Garcia, Tyler Garcia, Haley Fitzpatrick, Brittany Twyman, Shauna Hughes, Wesley Hughes, and William Hughes; and one brother, Willard McCracken of Dawn, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harley and Tabitha (Powers) McCracken; husband Hall; one son, Richard "Dick" Hughes; one great grandson, Tristen Todd Roberts; and four brothers, Ercel McCracken, Raymond McCracken, Chester "Chet" McCracken, and Irvin "Dub" McCracken. Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Saturday, January 12, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. There is no scheduled family visitation. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, January 11, 2013, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Blue Mound Cemetery, Dawn, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Tristen Todd Roberts Memorial Scholarship Fund, which was her great grandson, and/or the Blue Mound Cemetery and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O.
