Thomas Walter Tyler
Thomas Walter Tyler, age 73, a resident of Raytown, Missouri, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2022, at his home.
Tom was born the son of Ray and Vivian (Kingsley) Tyler on April 17, 1948, in Roscoe, California. He was a 1966 graduate of San Marcos High School, Santa Barbara, California. He served in the United States Army from 1966 until 1974. Tom was united in marriage to Mary Nobrega on April 4, 1975, in Leawood, Kansas. He worked as a claims adjuster for Zurich in the Kansas City area from '96 until present.
Tom (KC Tommy T) was an encourager and an enjoyer of people. Those who spent time with him felt seen, known, and delighted in by his kind, sensitive nature. He had great compassion for the people in his life and believed in the transformative love of Jesus. He was a lover of the great music of the 60s and movies that touched the heart and spirit. He enjoyed the landscapes and peace of Missouri and found great comfort in the beauty of nature. He was hardworking, dedicated and a self-professed gear-head. He loved tinkering and experimenting with electronics both as part of his work and in his free time and was a life-long learner. He was deeply grateful for the life he shared with his family and the deep connection he experienced with those he loved through life's trials. He looked for the good, and when he saw the good he named it and thanked God.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Tyler, who he celebrated 47 years with in April, 2022. He is also survived by two daughters, Michaela Driscoll and husband Jason of Lawrence, Kansas, and Melissa Lea of Kansas City, Missouri; and three grandchildren, Addie and Asher Driscoll of Lawrence, Kansas, and Araya Lea of Kansas City, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jerry Tyler.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 23rd at 11, 2022 at 11 am at Central Solutions, Inc., 401 Funston Road, Kansas City, Kansas 66115. A luncheon will be provided after the service. In honor of Tom's love of the Chiefs, those in attendance are welcome to wear their favorite team memorabilia.
