Thomas Harold Tye
Thomas Harold Tye, age 85, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri.
Thomas was born the son of Raymond Buchanan and Grace (Cole) Tye on August 29, 1933, in Sampsel Township. He was a 1952 graduate of Chillicothe High School. He was united in marriage to Virginia Lee Troeger on June 10, 1956. She survives of the home. To this union, three daughters, Jennie, Christine, and Tina, were born. Tom formerly worked for Missouri Public Service in the electrical and gas departments, Friendly Tire Company, and farmed on his family farm until retiring in 2012. Tom served in the Missouri Army National Guard, earning the award of Sharpshooter, before being honorably discharged. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri. He was also a member of the I.B.E.W. Union, and Chillicothe Young Farmers. His pride and joy was his family. Tom liked watching NASCAR, the Kansas City Royals, and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia, of the home; three daughters, Jennie Tipton and husband Terry of Chillicothe, Missouri, Christine Roe and husband Michael of Medicine Lodge, Kansas, and Tina Tye of Chillicothe, Missouri; five grandchildren, Jason Vorbeck and wife Chasity, Colin Roe and fiancé, Kristin, Addie Roe, Taylor Wilkison, and Tanner Wilkison; two great grandchildren, Jackson Vorbeck and Carsyn Vorbeck; one sister-in-law, Shirley Tye of Chillicothe, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Dixie (Carl) Lay, and Maxine (Dick) Wilson; twin brother, William H. Tye; and grandparents; Thomas (Nancy) Tye, and Wilson (Jennie) Cole.
A memorial service will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, January 11, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. There is no scheduled visitation. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, January 10, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date at Mt.
