Thelma "Joanne" Henry

Thelma Joanne Henry Thelma Joanne Henry, age 85, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Friday, March 14, 2014, at Morningside Center, Chillicothe, Missouri. Thelma was born the daughter of Forrest and Wilmot (North) Murray on March 12, 1929, in Braymer, Missouri. She was a 1947 graduate of Braymer High School, Braymer, Missouri. She then attended the University of Central Missouri, Warrensburg, Missouri, where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education in 1951. Joanne was united in marriage to William Rogers Henry on September 26, 1952, in Rolla, Missouri. He preceded her in death on August 31, 2011. They moved to Skokie, Illinois in 1956 where Thelma taught First Grade at Madison Elementary for 22 years. They moved to Chillicothe in 1986 and together with their son Jack they owned and operated Henry's Book Store. Joanne was a member of the United Methodist Church, Chillicothe, Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority, and the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority. She spent a lot of her spare time volunteering at Hedrick Medical Center and the Livingston County Library. Survivors include two sons, Robert Alan Henry and wife Linda of Plymouth, Minnesota, and Jack Murray Henry of Chillicothe, Missouri; four grandchildren, Michael Joseph Henry and wife Amanda of Cold Spring, Minnesota, Elizabeth Susan Henry of Eugene, Oregon, Sara Westly and husband Brian of Plymouth, Minnesota, and Kelly Hagberg and husband Kris of Plymouth, Minnesota; four great grandchildren, Zachary Randall Henry of Cold Spring, Minnesota, Bentley Hagberg of Plymouth, Minnesota, and Colton and Gage Westly of Plymouth, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband William; two brothers, Roger Murray and Hugh Murray; and one sister, Veva Jean Bliss. Funeral Services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. A family visitation will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Tuesday, March 18, 2014, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Tuesday, March 18, 2014, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Braymer, Missouri.
