Thelma Faye Davis Thelma Faye Davis, age 96, a resident of Braymer, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at Golden Age Nursing Home, Braymer, Missouri. Thelma Faye was born the daughter of Arthur and Alice (Blevins) Basham on July 15, 1921, in rural Cowgill, Missouri. She was a 1939 graduate of Braymer High School. Thelma Faye earned her Bachelor's Degree in Education in 1967 from Central Missouri State University, Warrensburg, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Darrell Eugene "Gene" Davis, Sr. on June 23, 1949, in Cowgill, Missouri, at her parents' home. He preceded her in death on April 4, 1988. Thelma Faye started her teaching career in a one room school house in 1940. She was a teacher for 34 years, serving 29 of those years at Braymer C-4 High School. After her retirement, she worked as a teacher's aide, and served as a volunteer at Golden Age Nursing Home. She was a member of the Braymer United Methodist Church, Braymer, Missouri, where she was a member of the Braymer UMW. She was also a charter member of the Tweedie-Murray American Legion Post 117, a member of the Tuesday Study Club, Braymer Historical Society, Tobbin Valley Club, and the Red Hatters. Thelma Faye sponsored a child from Haiti in a mission school. Survivors include two daughters, Debbie Rankin of Braymer, Missouri, and Diana Wilds and husband Ed of Las Vegas, Nevada; five grandchildren, Kelly Smith and husband Ron of Independence, Missouri, Billie Ann Sullivan and husband Rob of Independence, Missouri, April Wilds of Las Vegas, Nevada, John Wilds and wife Christina of Atlantic Beach, Florida, and Casey Wilds of Bend, Oregon; and ten great grandchildren, Kody (Shelby) Brockert of Independence, Missouri, Drake Smith of Independence, Missouri, Lane, Landon, and Lake Sullivan of Independence, Missouri, Marcus and Mackenzie Wilds of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Bovio, Lucca, and Milana Wilds of Atlantic Beach, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gene; one son, Darrell Eugene Davis, Jr.; one stepbrother, Thurston Kincaid; and one stepsister, Ruth Kincaid. The pacemaker Thelma had relied on for many years, will now go on to help another family enjoy a loved one for more years to come. Arrangements are being made to send the pacemaker to the University Of Missouri College Of Veterinary Medicine, where they will be used in a family's pet, to give the pet a better quality of life. Funeral services will be held at the Braymer United Methodist Church, Braymer, Missouri, on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, 1:30 p.m. A scheduled visitation will be held at the Braymer United Methodist Church, Braymer, Missouri, on Monday, October 9, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Braymer United Methodist Church, Braymer, Missouri, on Monday, October 9, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Braymer, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Braymer United Methodist Church and/or the Braymer Alumni scholarship Fund for Elementary Education and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O.
