August 10, 1956 — January 19, 2025

Kansas City

Susan E. Wiedmier Bridges, 68, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, January 19,
2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City.

Susan was born the daughter of Leonard and Maribelle Arlene (Peirce) Wiedmier on August 10,
1956, in Braymer, Missouri. She married Jim Bridges on January 19, 1985, in Las Vegas,
Nevada. Together, they built a life full of love, commitment, and shared purpose.
Susan graduated from Braymer High School in 1974 and went on to attend the University of
Missouri-Columbia, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. She
later completed a Master’s Degree in Business Administration at Rockhurst University. During
her college years at Mizzou, she was an active and devoted member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority,
serving as Panhellenic Representative. After graduation, she continued her involvement with
Alpha Delta Pi volunteering countless hours on the Housing Board, including 16 years as
Treasurer. Her time at Mizzou also included active participation in the Business School and she
was an Alpha Gamma Rho Little Sister.

Susan’s professional life was marked by accomplishment and dedication. She began her career
as an accountant at Farmland Industries and later worked as a Financial Controller at Fuller
Brush Company, a subsidiary of Sara Lee Corporation. When Fuller Brush relocated its
corporate offices, Susan’s entrepreneurial spirit led her to open a retail store, Only The Best.
She expanded the business by adding Classic Canes, Etc., importing walking sticks from
England to serve people with unique mobility needs. Susan eventually found her professional
home as Financial Controller at Alphapointe, a nonprofit organization supporting the visually
impaired. She retired from Alphapointe in 2022 after 16 years of service, earning a reputation for
her tireless work ethic and dedication to others—a testament to her belief in the saying, “If you
want something done, ask a busy person to do it.”

Beyond her career, Susan’s life was defined by her generosity and care for others. From an
early age, she demonstrated a commitment to service as a 4-H member, an active participant in
Braymer school organizations, and a member of Proctorville United Methodist Church. Her
devotion to helping others continued throughout her life. She worked with Business Services,
providing resources to small Kansas City businesses, and was an active member of ZONTA
International, an organization dedicated to the betterment of professional women.
Faith was central to Susan’s life. After moving to the Northland, she attended Holy Family
Catholic Church and was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. She was known for
bringing people together, especially during Thanksgiving and Christmas, when she prepared
feasts for family and friends. Susan was a gifted organizer of events and cherished her
relationships with her stepson, nieces, nephews, and the children of her friends. She loved
taking them on outings, sharing experiences, and creating lasting memories. She was a devoted
friend to many and found joy in traveling and spending time with loved ones.
Susan is survived by her husband of 40 years, Jim Bridges; her stepson, Gregory L. Bridges, of
Seattle, Washington; her mother, Arlene Coshow of Braymer, Missouri; two brothers, Stephen
Wiedmier (Sandy) of Braymer, Missouri and David Wiedmier of Hamilton, Missouri; her sister
Debra Clevenger (Joe) of Hamilton, Missouri; and several nieces, nephews, extended family
members, and very close friends. She is preceded in death by her father, Leonard Wiedmier,
stepfather, Larry Coshow, and a sister-in-law, Vicki Wiedmier.

Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering generosity leave an indelible mark on the lives of all who
knew her. Her absence will be deeply felt by her family, friends, and the many people she
touched throughout her life.
