Steven Larance Gabrielson, 68, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas.
Steve was born October 2, 1952, in Princeton, Minnesota, the son of Earl Gabrielson and Margie Larson. He graduated high school in 1970 from Bensenville, Illinois. He enlisted in the United States Navy when he was only 17, and was stationed at Pearl Harbor Naval Base, Hawaii. He was united in marriage to Debbie Jeanette Ellingsworth on August 19, 1972, in Chillicothe, Missouri. After Navy retirement, he returned to Chillicothe where he eventually opened Chillicothe Truck Repair & Towing. Over the years he also did construction work, had various rental properties, and opened Midwest Suppliers Discount Store in Chillicothe.
Steve's love and dedication to his family was apparent in all he did. He enjoyed having the grandkids over and having a house full of activity. The grandkids enjoyed many things with Papa Steve including fishing, sledding, riding 4-wheelers, making popcorn and magically pulling candy out of his ears.
Steve also enjoyed traveling with his wife. In recent years they visited Australia, Kenya, Cuba, Panama and Peru. He also enjoyed long motorcycle trips, scuba diving, and flying his plane. Steve had such a generous heart and was constantly helping those in need. He was full of life and enjoyed sharing his stories with everyone wherever he went.
Steve is survived by his wife, Debbie Gabrielson, of the home; four sons, Steve and Kelly Gabrielson, of Chillicothe, Missouri, Jonathan Gabrielson of Columbia, Missouri, David and Morgan Gabrielson of Chillicothe, Missouri, and Matthew and Ashley Gabrielson of Chillicothe, Missouri; one daughter, Micah and Aaron Douglas of Chillicothe, Missouri; grandchildren Ethan, Juliann, Lydia, Litton, Greenly, Fallon, Halle, Gentry, Rorie Gabrielson of Chillicothe, Keith, Aaron, Kaitlyn Gabrielson of Columbia, and London, Kobe, Malachi, Salem Douglas of Chillicothe; mother Margie (Doug) Larson of Hanover, Illinois; parents in-law Paul and Della Ellingsworth of Chillicothe, Missouri; siblings, Kathy (Roy) Upchurch of Effingham, Illinois, Mary (Richard) Brewer of Fenton, Missouri, Teresa (Donnie) Rogers of Chillicothe, Missouri, Bobby (Debbie) Gabrielson of Braymer, Missouri, Tanna (Albert) Rowell of Hanover, Illinois, Shane (Anita) Larson of Hanover, Illinois, Tim (Ellen) Larson of Hanover, Illinois, Jean Sanchez of Illinois, Diane Gabrielson of Arizona, Larry Gabrielson of Georgia, and Pamela (Don) Anderson of Mooresville, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Gabrielson; and siblings, Kevin Larson and Daniel Larson.
Funeral service will be held at Cornerstone Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Saturday, July 3, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. A scheduled visitation will be held at Cornerstone Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, July 2, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call at Cornerstone Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, July 2, 2021, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri.
