Stephanie Ruth Hecker, a resident of Overland Park, KS, passed away on November 19, 2021 in the comfort of her own home surrounded by loved ones. Stephanie Ruth (Webber) Hecker was born in Kirksville, MO. on September 15, 1958, to Joe and Patricia (Windle) Webber. Stephanie's father, Dr. Joe Webber, was a Doctor of Osteopathy who had a private practice in Chillicothe for many years. He was also the Livingston County coroner. Her mother, Patricia Webber, was the first female prosecuting attorney in Chillicothe where she practiced law for a number of years. Stephanie was the only granddaughter of Chillicothe residents, Murray and Ruth Windle. In her youth, Stephanie enjoyed horseback riding, piano, ballet, and attending summer camps in Colorado and Arizona. She attended Chillicothe High School and graduated in the class of 1976. She was a member of Junior Sorosis. She attended the University of Alabama-Tuscaloosa and studied journalism from 1976 to 1979. She was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Stephanie attended nursing school and graduated from St. Luke's School of Nursing in 1983. She was formerly married to M. Dorney Hecker and they shared three children together: Aaron, Lindsay and Kyle Hecker. Stephanie was a member of the St. Columban's parish, where she served on the parish council and was secretary of the cemetery committee. She volunteered at Bishop Hogan School for many years where her children attended school. Stephanie loved to read, write, shop, travel, and was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan. She traveled to most of the US states, all around Europe and made many trips to Mexico. She took a summer trip to Fiji, which ended up being one of her favorite places. She had an affinity for the ocean and warm weather. She frequently traveled to warm destinations. She enjoyed world history and every trip she took had an educational purpose. Stephanie loved animals. Her cat, George, was her companion to the end and she loved him so much. Her greatest passion in life was her three children whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia (Windle) Webber, her father, Joe Bill "Dr. Joe" Webber, an infant daughter, Abbey Marie Hecker, maternal grandparents, Murray and Ruth Windle, and paternal grandparents, Ladd and Tommie Taylor Webber. She is survived by her three children: Aaron, Lindsay, and Kyle, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the St. Columban Catholic Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Monday, November 29, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. A Parish Rosary will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Sunday, November 28, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. with a visitation to follow. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, Sunday, November 28, 2021 from 12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m. Burial will be held at St. Columban Catholic Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri.
