Stella Katherine (Nicholas) Turner Stella Katherine (Nicholas) Turner, age 92, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2011, at Indian Hills Retirement Center, Chillicothe, Missouri. Stella was born the daughter of Taylor Harrison and Florence (Smith) Nicholas on January 3, 1919, in Savannah, Missouri. She was a 1936 graduate of Savannah High School, Savannah, Missouri. On May 31, 1941, she was united in marriage to Reuben G. Turner in Savannah, Missouri. He preceded her in death on February 1, 2000. They made their home in Macon, Missouri after he graduated from the University of Missouri, and later moved to Chillicothe, where they owned and operated T&R Soil Service. Stella was a member of the Chillicothe United Methodist Church, Lydia Circle, and served as president of United Methodist Women, the Olive Prindle Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Junior Culture Club, and Chapter T of the PEO Sisterhood, where she served as president. She enjoyed playing bridge, sewing, and researching genealogy. Survivors include two sons, Allan Brent Turner and wife Mary of Chillicothe, Missouri, and Vincent Kearby Turner of Winter Park, Colorado; five grandchildren, Stacy Villalaz and husband Mike, Tina Mitchell and husband Dave, and Chad Turner of Colorado, and Ellyn and Laura Turner of Chillicothe, Missouri; she is also survived by four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Reuben; six brothers, Frank J., Paul W., Taylor H. Jr., Carl V., Roy Lee, and William R. "Wig" Nicholas; two sisters, Minnie Mae Davis, and Mary Florence Wright. A Memorial Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri. Friends may call on Friday, October 28, 2011 from 12 noon until 9:00 p.m. at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri. Inurnment will be held at Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri.
