Stanley V Hurst Stanley V. Hurst, age 93, a resident of Missouri Veterans Home Cameron, Missouri, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2014. Stanley was born February 1, 1921, in Chula, Missouri, the son of Otis and Hermia (Moore) Hurst. He was a 1938 graduate of Chula High School. During his youth he helped farm with his father and brother, Kenneth. In 1939 Stanley married Helen Lee Owen. He graduated in 1942 with a BS in Education from the University of Missouri, Columbia and also received a Commission in the US Army as 2nd LT. While in the service his first son, Gary Stan, was born while stationed in Spokane, WA. After WW II while living in Los Angeles his second son, Warren Lee was born. In 1955 the family moved to Chula, Missouri, Where he again took up farming. Stanley married Willa Ruth Watson in 1966 and moved to Trenton, Missouri to start teaching at Jameson then Pattonsburg High Schools over a 17 year period. After retiring he became a health insurance agent for the Northwest Mo area. He was a member of American Legion, Masons, Moila Shriners, Elks Lodge, Chula Presbyterian Church then Wesley United Methodist Church of Trenton. Survivors include his son Warren Hurst of Sarasota, FL; two step daughters Ruth Ann Puri of St. Louis and Rhonda Lipson of Denver; three grandchildren, Erik Lee of Lawson, MO, Tera Lynn Jones of Cameron, MO, and Chad Michael of Trenton, MO; six great-grandchildren and a niece Carolyn Beth Hurst Stephens of Venice, FL. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen Lee; his parents; his wife Willa Ruth; brother Kenneth; and son Gary. Memorial service will be held at the Lindley Funeral home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, July 18, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. There is no scheduled family visitation. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, July 17, 2014, from 12 noon until 5:00 p.m. A private burial will be held at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Chillicothe, Missouri.
