Shirley McKissick Shirley McKissick, age 70, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, October 03, 2013, at her residence. Shirley was born the daughter of Bazel Sr. and Jessie (Williams) Allen on July 15, 1943, in Chillicothe, Missouri. Shirley graduated from Chillicothe High School, Chillicothe, Missouri, in 1961. After graduating high school she attended the University of Missouri where she graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Education in 1965. She later received her Master's Degree in Education from Avila University, Kansas City, Missouri. Shirley was united in marriage to Paul McKissick on December 25, 1989, in Kansas City, Missouri. He preceded her in death on February 24, 2002. Shirley retired from the Kansas City School District where she taught for 40 years. She loved teaching. Shirley was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri. Survivors include one daughter, Sicily Miller, Chillicothe, Missouri; five grandchildren, David Gordon, Jessie Lee Miller, Sylas Gatson, Jacye Gatson, and Xenobia Gatson all of Chillicothe, Missouri; one niece, Elizabeth Ann Allen of Uganda, Africa; one great niece; and Sonny Miller of Chillicothe, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul McKissick; and one brother Basel Allen Jr. Services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, October 10, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. A scheduled family visitation will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Wednesday, October 9, 2013, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, on Wednesday, October 9, 2013, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Mooresville Cemetery, Mooresville, Missouri.
