Shirley Sharon Ashlock

Shirley Sharon (Cranmer) Ashlock Shirley Sharon Cranmer Ashlock, age 78, formerly of Chillicothe, and most recently a resident of The Arbors Alzheimer's Memory Care Facility in Marshall, Missouri, passed away on Monday, July 18, 2016. Shirley was born on January 15, 1938, in Chillicothe, Missouri. She was the oldest daughter of Clyde and Pauline Cranmer. On April 8, 1995, she was united in marriage to Glenn Lee Ashlock in Chillicothe, Missouri. He preceded her in death on March 22, 2015. Shirley spent most of her adult life working as a nurse at Hedrick Medical Center. She earned her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Diploma from St. John's School of Nursing in 1977 and in 1989, Shirley earned her Associate of Applied Science in Nursing (RN) degree from North Central Missouri College. After twenty years of dedicated service as an emergency room nurse, Shirley retired from HMC and began working to raise awareness for breast cancer research and developed a grief ministry to help families deal with the death of a loved one. She was a member of Highview Baptist Church in Chillicothe, Missouri and spent much of her life living out the call to be the "hands and feet" of Jesus by loving others and caring for those in need. Survivors include: two daughters, Jo Ellen (Humphrey) Black and husband Tom of Marshall, Missouri; and Kerry Dawn (Humphrey) Turner of Nixa, Missouri; one brother, Jerry Cranmer and wife Ruby of Walnut Shade, Missouri; two sisters, Janice Dye and husband Don of Gatesville, Texas, and Donna Baker and partner Mark Gratton of Belleview, Florida. Six grandchildren: Zach Turner and wife, Mary; Haley (Black) Cotham and husband Bret; Dustin Turner and partner Lexie Ruhl, Tom Black and wife Lindsey, Phillip Black, and Micaela Black. Five great-grandchildren: Garrett Turner, Halli and Owen Black; and Liam and Luke Cotham; along with ten nieces and nephews, a dear friend and sister-in-law Beverly Owens, and many dear cousins and close friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, Tommy Cranmer, nephew, John Boone, brother-in-law, Nelson Baker, niece, Gabby Baker, and great niece, Lindsey Cranmer. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri. A scheduled family visitation will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Wednesday, July 20, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Wednesday, July 20, 2016, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to The Arbors at Westport Estates and/or Lifepoint Church of Chillicothe and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O.
