Sharon Ake- Buchanan

Sharon Buchanan, age 65, a resident of Cheshire, Oregon, formally of Chula, Missouri, passed away on Monday, October 22, 2012, at her residence. Sharon was born the daughter of Max and Mae (Sizemore) Keithley on June 25, 1947, in Trenton, Missouri. She was a 1965 Wheeling High School Graduate, Wheeling, Missouri. On March 24, 1965, she was united in marriage to Lloyd Drake of Chula, Missouri. They then moved to Nebraska were they had two children, Cheryl and Billy. Sharon worked for a school bus company and then went on to beauty school, and worked in a beauty shop for a while. In the summer of 1977, they moved back to Chula, Missouri. They joined the Eversonville Baptist Church and managed a farm. Several years later Sharon bought the Beauty Maid Salon in Chillicothe. Sharon and Lloyd also became members of Highview Baptist Church. In 2000, Sharon was diagnosed with breast cancer, she was treated and on her way to recovery, when on October 7, 2002, her husband Lloyd had a farming accident and was killed. She then sold the farm and moved to Chillicothe. Sharon became restless and wanted to travel, bought a street bike and began to traveling. Sharon spent a couple of winters in Texas and New Mexico, and after experienceing the winter in New Mexico, she decided to pack up and move there. While in New Mexico she met a gentleman, Neal Buchanan, he lived in Cheshire, Oregon. On March 4, 2006, she was united in marriage to Neal Buchanan. She stayed in New Mexico for a winter and then moved to Oregon. In 2007 Sharon was diagnosed with bone cancer, she fought the cancer until October 22, 2012. Her cancer had spread to her brain, liver, and lungs. She is survived by her husband, Neal Buchanan, of the home; one son, Billy Drake of Quincy, Illinois; one daughter, Cheryl Shiflett, and husband Todd of Linneus, Missouri; one step-son, Tekoah Buchanan and wife Sherry, of Portland, Oregon; one step-daughter, Shekinah Berger and husband Henry, of Boston, Massuchesetts; one brother, Sonny Keithley, of Avalon, Missouri; one sister Karon Reed, of Chillicothe, Missouri; six grandchildren, Samantha Lamp, Amber Lamp, Kelsey Shiflett, Bryan Drake, Joey Drake, and Summer Drake; four step-grandchildren, Pheonix Buchanan, Gavin, Gabriel, and Noah Berger; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Lloyd Drake; one brother, Donnie Keithley; three sisters, Dela Deardorff, Phyllis Laughridge, and Linda Quinn two sister-in-laws, Mary Keithley, and Joyce Keithley; three brother-in-laws, Robert Reed, Don Deardorff, and Joe Laughridge. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 30, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri. There will be a family visitation on Monday, October 29, 2012, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, on Monday, October 29, 2012, from 12 noon until 9:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Elmwood Cemetery, Linneus, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Elmwood Cemetery and/or the American Cancer Society and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
