Sharon K. Basham, age 71, a resident southeast of Cowgill, Missouri, passed away on April 2, 2024 at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Richmond, Missouri.
Sharon was born the daughter of Robert and Norma (Zimmerman) Bears on April 1, 1953, in Kansas City, Missouri. She was one of nine children, three brothers surviving, Mike, Danny and Gary. Three surviving sisters, Vicki, Beth and Grace, and two sisters preceded her in death, Linda and Barbara Jean.
Sharon was united in marriage to Carl Basham on October 5, 1973, in Knoxville, Missouri. He preceded her in death on June 14, 2008. She took great pride in sewing, making clothing, raising chickens, canning green beans, driving her 1850 Oliver Tractor and 1975 Ford grain truck. She farmed with Carl for many years, until his passing. Sharon was a hunter of many things including gooseberries to make cobblers, deer with her 30-30 rifle and her favorite was hunting morel mushrooms, of which she was a very successful hunter. Sharon was smart, quick witted, loving, honest, devoted wife and good mother to Robbie and Tina, along with several strays that she took in at times, who loved her like their own Mom. She had many years of factory work. She was also a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include one son, Rob Basham and wife Amy of Cowgill, Missouri; one daughter, Tina Dobbins and husband Dave of Nettleton, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Calvin, Katie, Kerri and Cheri Basham, J.C., Janette, Jeremy and Emily Dobbins; and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Carl.
Graveside services will be held at the Basham Cemetery, Cowgill, Missouri, on Friday, April 5, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., with a private family viewing scheduled at 1:00 p.m. at Lindley Pitts Funeral Home, in Braymer, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
