Sarah Agatha Walker Sarah Agatha Walker, age 93, a resident of Hale, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri. Sarah was born the daughter of Paul and Martha (Klempel) Heringer on April 9, 1924, in Sidney, Montana. She was a 1941 graduate of Sidney High School, Sidney, Montana. She then graduated in 1945 from Deaconess Nursing School. Sarah was united in marriage to John C. Walker on September 7, 1946, in Forsythe, Montana. He preceded her in death on December 29, 2007. Sarah and John made their home in Hale, Missouri, in 1978. She worked as a nurse at Hedrick Medical Center for 15 years until her retirement. She served as a volunteer for the Grand River Multi-Purpose Center, Threads, and Joy Toys. Sarah was known for her hand sewn quilts, needlepoint and many numerous crafting skills; her cinnamon rolls were enough to bring friends and family from far and wide just hoping to get one...they never lasted long. In October of 2013, Sarah was declared the Matriarch of the 100-year anniversary celebration of the Chief of Keokuk Monument overlooking the Mississippi River at Rand Park in Keokuk, Iowa. Sarah's husband John was a direct descendant of Chief Keokuk; she was honored as his wife. She was 89 at the time. Survivors include one son, Daniel Leroy Walker of Bedford, Missouri; two daughters, Jacque Charlene Watts of Hale, Missouri, and Judy Darlene Gary and husband Paul of Lowry City, Missouri; eight grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Sarah was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; one son, Harvey LaVan Walker; three brothers, Paul, Daniel, and Eugene "Iván" Heringer; two sisters, Selma Nelson and Martha Horst; one stepbrother; and four half-sisters; grandsons "Little Ricky" Shatto and J.P. Gary. Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Hale, Missouri, on Saturday, October 28, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. A scheduled visitation will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Hale, Missouri, on Friday, October 27, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Hale, Missouri, on Friday, October 27, 2017, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Hale Memorial Gardens, Hale, Missouri.
