Sammie Junior Ireland Sammie Junior Ireland, age 85, a resident of Dawn, Missouri, passed away on Monday, June 23, 2014, at his home. He was born the son of Samuel Warner and Georgia Lea (Norvell) Ireland on April 10, 1929, in Centerview, Missouri. He served as a Corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951 until 1953. Sammie was united in marriage to Frances Ann Cooper on July 13, 1951, in Chillicothe, Missouri. They were blessed with 6 children, 14 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. Frances Ann survives of the home. He worked as a self-employed farmer all of his life, along with his youngest son, Thomas Ireland. His passion was farming. Sammie custom farmed for many local farmers. He loved spending time with his family and being a grandpa to his grandchildren. Sammie also sold Moorman's Feed. He was a member of the Verne R. Glick American Legion Post #25. Survivors include his wife, Frances of the home; two sons, Sammie Dale Ireland of Dawn, Missouri, and Thomas Junior Ireland and wife Cynthia of Dawn, Missouri; three daughters, Patricia Lynn Hoerr and husband Russel of Hale, Missouri, Beverly Ann McCracken and husband Terry of Tina, Missouri, Susan Joan Ireland and fiancé Jim Curran of New Albany, Ohio; fourteen grandchildren, Tami Lynn Goodhart, Gary Forrest Goodhart, Samuel Colby Ireland and wife Julie, Amy Ranae Ireland, Brian Junior Ireland and wife Katie, Allie Jo Foltz and husband Rodney, Ashley Wayne McCracken, Brandon Hunter McCracken, Colton Jay Smith, Tia Dawn Smith, Jared Thomas Ireland and wife Whitney, Zachary Caleb Ireland and wife Morgan, Austin Blake Ireland, and Brittany KayLea Ireland; seven great grandchildren; one brother, Donald Lee Ireland and wife Betty of Bosworth, Missouri; one sister, Wilma Frances Coulter of Hannibal, Missouri; and two sisters-in-law, Nancy Ireland of Baldwin, Kansas and Betty Sue Ireland of Bosworth, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Brenda Lea Ireland; four brothers, George Isaac, Clifford Franklin, Raymond Wayne, and Edgar Dean Ireland; one sister, Helen Catherine Gibson; and three brothers-in-law, Jack Coulter, John E. Plaster, and Oscar "Tag" Gibson. Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, June 27, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. A scheduled family visitation will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, June 26, 2014, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, June 26, 2014, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Chillicothe, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Truman Veterans Hospital Cardiology Department in Columbia and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P. O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
