Ruth E. Cooper Ruth E. Cooper, age 87, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas, surrounded by her four children. Ruth was born the daughter of Harry R. and Fannie M. (Mathews) Rose on March 5, 1929, in Livingston County, Missouri. She was a 1947 graduate of Chillicothe High School. She was united in marriage to Claude E. Cooper on August 9, 1947, in Carrollton, Missouri. He preceded her in death on March 4, 2016. Ruth was a stay at home mother for many years. She then worked part time at Field School and J.C. Penny's. Ruth lastly worked as a Telephone Operator for Southwestern Bell beginning in 1967. She then retired as a drafting clerk in 1988. She was a member of the Highview Baptist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri. Ruth enjoyed nothing more than cooking for her family and was a wonderful cook. She loved family gatherings, especially at Christmas. She thoroughly enjoyed her grandchildren from the time they were infants, until they became parents themselves, making her a great grandmother. Ruth battled cancer off and on for almost 30 years. She fought hard, and taught us many lessons in bravery and courage. Survivors include, two sons, Curtis Cooper and wife Joyce of Shawnee, Kansas, and Mike Cooper and wife Susan of St. Charles, Missouri; two daughters Darlene Cook of Kansas City, Missouri, and Debby Kincade and husband David of Jefferson City, Missouri; twelve grandchildren, and twenty-three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Claude; infant son, Mitchell Cooper; one brother, Richard Rose; one sister, Mildred (Dye) Mayers; and son-in-law James Cook. Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, July 8, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. A scheduled family visitation will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, July 7, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, July 7, 2016, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Blue Mound Cemetery, Blue Mound, Missouri.
