Ruth Benson Ruth Benson, age 94, a resident of Omaha, Nebraska, formerly of Chillicothe, passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2015, at the Rose Blumkin Jewish Home, in Omaha. Ruth was born the daughter of Richard and Emma (Weakley) Morrow on August 2, 1920, near Lawson, Missouri. She was a 1938 graduate of Plattsburg High School, Plattsburg, Missouri. She then attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri, for one year where she was the Tower Yearbook Queen. She then attended Kansas City College of Commerce. Ruth was united in marriage to 1/Lt. Griffith E Benson on June 27, 1943, at her parent's home south of Plattsburg, Missouri. He preceded her in death on March 19, 2004. In 1946 she and Mr. Benson moved to Chillicothe where they opened the Kelley-Benson appliance store. She later worked as secretary to the President and loan officer at the Chillicothe State Bank for many years. Ruth was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church, Chillicothe, where she served as an elder and church treasurer. She was also a member of the Chillicothe PEO, Chapter T. She also was a member of the Chillicothe Culture Club and served as secretary-treasurer of the Chillicothe Country Club. Survivors include one son Robert Benson and wife Roberta of Omaha, Nebraska; two grandchildren, Joe Benson of Omaha, Nebraska, and Kelley Benson-Gettman (Rob Gettman) of Lincoln, Nebraska, great-grandchildren Benson and Stella Gettman of Lincoln, Nebraska; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband Griffith Benson. Funeral services will be held at the Presbyterian Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, February 26, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. A scheduled family visitation will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Wednesday, February 25, 2015, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Wednesday, February 25, 2015, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri.
