Russell Gear Russell Gear, age 81, a resident of Gilbert, Arizona, formerly of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2015, at his residence. Russell was born the son of Walter and Lavene (Crump) Gear on November 16, 1933, in Chillicothe, Missouri. He served in the United States Army beginning in 1949 until his retirement in 1962. Russell served in Korea and Germany during his Army career beginning in 1949. He then served in the Missouri National Guard from 1963 until 1978. Russell was united in marriage to Shirley Ruth Peterie on October 8, 1953, in Bennettsville, South Carolina. She preceded him in death on November 12, 2000. He worked as a Quality Technician for the Department of Defense for 11 years. He was a member of Highview Baptist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri. Survivors include three sons, Nick Gear of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Antoni Gear of Liberty, Missouri, and Randy Gear of Trenton, Missouri; four daughters, Cinda Jauregui of Alpine, California, Brenda Cross of Gilbert, Arizona, Glenda Gear of Liberal, Kansas, and Cynda Gear of Phoenix, Arizona; nine grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and one great-great grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley; daughter, Trenda Gear; four brothers, John, Leroy, Bill and Ronald Gear; and grandsons, Jeremy Whitmore, Christiaan Gear and Josh Whitmore. A Memorial Service will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Saturday, June 27, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. There is no scheduled family visitation. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, June 26, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Inurnment will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, Phoenix, Arizona, at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grand River Area Family YMCA and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
