Russell R. Bate Russell R. Bate, age 88, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2015, at Hedrick Medical Center. Russell was born the son of Ray Bate and Jennie Thompson Bate on September 14, 1926, in Gopher, South Dakota. He was a Merchant Marine from 1944 to 1946. He was united in marriage to Peggy McNally on September 14, 1947, in Chillicothe, Missouri. She survives of the home. Russell was self-employed as a contractor. Russell was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church where he served as a past Deacon. He also enjoyed woodworking. Survivors include his wife Peggy Bate; one son Ray Bate and wife Debbie of Ashland, Missouri; two daughters, Beverly Herring of Cameron, Missouri, and Cindy Peterie and husband Kerry of Chula, Missouri; one sister Florence Keith of Napoleon, Missouri; eight grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Russell was preceded in death by his parents, one brother George Bate and two sisters Mildred Brown and Ruth McNally. A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, August 22, 2015, and 11:00 am at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Chillicothe, Missouri. There is no scheduled family visitation. Friends may call on Friday, August 21, 2015, from 8:00am until 5:00 pm at Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe, Missouri. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund and/or North Missouri Baptist Home and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, PO Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri, 64601.
