Rosemary Trager

Rosemary Trager Rosemary (Burnam) Trager, age 84, formerly of Chillicothe, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2014, in Columbia, Missouri. She was born on February 15, 1930, in Macon, Missouri, the only daughter of Jeff and Mabel (Dewey) Burnam. Rosemary attended school in Macon until her family moved to Chillicothe her sophomore year of high school. She graduated from Chillicothe High School and then attended Chillicothe Business College. During those years, she played clarinet in the high school band and participated in swim competitions. After graduation from Business College, she worked as a secretary in Los Angeles, California. In July 1949, Rosemary married the former Frank Trager, Jr., in St. Columban Catholic Church, Chillicothe, Missouri. They had four children. During her years as a member of St. Columban parish, she was active in its chapter of the Legion of Mary. She participated in Altar Society activities and typed the weekly church bulletin. She also served one year as the PTA president for Bishop Hogan Memorial School-St. Joseph Academy. Rosemary was accomplished in sewing and making crafts. This included church banners and vestments with complex applique work. At one point, she was awarded a patent on her unique method for doing appliques. She was also a lifelong bridge player. Years ago, she worked at the local Singer sewing center as well as Indian Hills Retirement Village. For the past eight years, she has been residing in Columbia, Missouri. Rosemary was a devoted mother and grandmother. A treasured memory for her children and grandchildren is being rocked by her in the family rocking chair while she sang "Jesus Loves Me." She is survived by three of her children: Mark and wife Kathryn, Hastings-on-Hudson, New York; Chris, Branson, Missouri; and Dawn Sovanski, Jefferson City, Missouri. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren: Joel Sovanski and wife Jennifer, Jefferson City, Missouri; Branden Trager and wife Erica, Hockinson, Washington; Mara Roberts, Columbia, Missouri; Shana Woody and husband Loren, Columbia, Missouri; Kari Sovanski, Columbia, Missouri; Keaton Trager, Springfield, Missouri; Lena Trager, Hastings-on-Hudson, New York; and Collier Trager, Boca Raton, Florida. In addition, there are nine great-grandchildren: Liam Sovanski, Eva Sovanski, Alexys Sovanski, Zoey Roberts, Gavin Woody, Ariana Woody, Abigail Trager, Logan Trager, and Emily Trager. She is preceded in death by her son Lance; her three brothers - Waldo, Kenneth, and Harold; and her mother and father. A Parish Rosary will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, July 25, 2014, at 6:00 p.m. with a family visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, July 25, 2014, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the St. Columban Catholic Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Saturday, July 26, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be held at the St. Columban Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grand River YMCA and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri, 64601.
