Robert Sidney Cockrell Robert Sidney Cockrell, age 81, a resident of Braymer, Missouri, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2014, at Cameron Regional Medical Center, Cameron, Missouri. Robert was born the son of Lee Alfred and Vella Virginia (Hawkins) Cockrell on December 21, 1932, in Yale, Oklahoma. He served in the United States Air Force. He was united in marriage to Lyla Gail Barker on September 6, 1953, in Olathe, Kansas. She preceded him in death on December 7, 2010. He worked as a Carpenter and was a member of the Carpenters Union of Kansas City for 51 years. Robert was a member of the Braymer Baptist Church, Braymer, Missouri, where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher for many years. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #1000. Survivors include three sons, Rob Cockrell of Braymer, Missouri, Gary Cockrell of Braymer, Missouri, and Larry Cockrell of St. Joseph, Missouri; six daughters, Cindi Goddard of Braymer, Missouri, Gay Lynn Stark of Mercer, Missouri, Meri Hughes and husband Ron of Braymer, Missouri, Melody Lewis and husband Chip of New Church, Virginia, Laurie Abbott of Kansas City, Missouri, and Kathy Mullin of Kansas City, Missouri; eighteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; one brother, Dean Cockrell and wife Martha of Granbury, Texas; and one sister, Viola Keller of Braymer, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lyla; one grandson, Frank Goddard; three brothers, Pete Teeples, Alfred Cockrell and Herman Cockrell; one sister, Helen Evans; and two sons-in-law, Keith Goddard and James Stark. A Memorial Service will be held at the Braymer First Baptist Church, Braymer, Missouri, on Saturday, December 20, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Braymer First Baptist Church and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Pitts Funeral Home, P.O.
