Robert Leroy Carpenter, age 90, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2019, at Morningside Center, Chillicothe, Missouri.
Robert was born the son of Glen and Viola Louise (Hapes) Carpenter on May 20, 1928, in Chula, Missouri. He was a 1948 graduate of Trenton High School. Robert was united in marriage to Norma Kuhlman on January 26, 1954, in Galt, Missouri. She preceded him in death on April 9, 2009. He worked as a farmer all of his life. Robert was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness, Chillicothe, Missouri.
Survivors include two sons, Roy Lee Carpenter of Laredo, Missouri, and Richard Carpenter and wife Delores of Chillicothe, Missouri; two daughters, Judy Gaffney and husband Dennis of Wright City, Missouri, and Joy Frizzell of Chillicothe, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; two brothers, Charles E. Carpenter of Napa, California, and Glen Carpenter, Jr. of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; three sisters, Marie Carpenter of San Francisco, California, Kitty Jo Young of Milan, Missouri, and Mary Chambers of Columbia, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Norma; and one sister, Virginia Crosby.
Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, April 11, 2019, at 1:30 p.m. There is no scheduled visitation. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Wednesday, April 10, 2019, from 12 noon until 5:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Stucker Cemetery, Laredo, Missouri.
