Robert E. Byrnes, Jr., age 92, a resident of Kansas City, Missouri, formerly of Chillicothe, Missouri passed away on Sunday, October 31, 2010 in Kansas City, Missouri. Robert was born son of Robert Emmet and Pearl (Seaman) Byrnes on April 16, 1918 in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from Rockhurst High School in 1936. He served in the Army Air Corps from 1941 through 1945. On August 5, 1950 he married Wilma Janet Warwick in Kansas City, Missouri. She preceded him in death on September 11, 1985. Mr. Byrnes made his home in Chillicothe, Missouri from 1956 to 1986, and from 1986 to 1998 he resided in Daytona Beach, Florida, and from 1998 to present he made his home in Kansas City, Missouri. He was the owner of Byrnes Shoe Store in Chillicothe, Missouri for 30 years. He was a member of St. Columban's Catholic Church in Chillicothe, where he was an Extraordinary Minister, he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 1084 where he was a 3rd and 4th degree Knight, and he served as Grand Knight. He was a founder of the Chillicothe St. Patrick's Day Parade. Served as president of the Chamber of Commerce, and the Chillicothe Country Club, and he was integrally involved with getting the country club pool installed. He served on the Chillicothe Airport board, was a member of the Chillicothe Civil Air Patrol, and had a private pilot license. He is survived by two sons, Robert E. Byrnes, III and wife Sabrina of Liberty, Missouri, Sean O'Byrne and wife Deanna of Kansas City, Missouri; one daughter Janet Byrnes and friend Pat Robins of Kansas City, Missouri; four grandchildren, Kelsey and Kaitlin Byrnes of Kansas City, Missouri, Delaney and Navan O'Byrne of Kansas City, Missouri, one niece, and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Dorothy and Betty. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at the St. Columban's Church on Friday, November 5, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Family visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. at the church on Friday.
