Rita Rae Darr, age 65, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2021, at North Kansas City Hospital, North Kansas City, Missouri.
Rita was born the daughter of Ray and Mary (Williams) Darr on August 29, 1955, in Chillicothe, Missouri. She was a graduate of Hiawatha High School, Kirkland, Illinois. She worked as a receptionist for the Grand River Area Family YMCA for many years. She also worked as a receptionist for the Salvation Army of Chillicothe for several years. Rita was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and the St. Louis Cardinals. She enjoyed working with individuals with special needs through Community Options. Rita also enjoyed watching the Game Show Network, especially Wheel of Fortune and 25 Words or Less, and sitting on her front porch. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include one son, Travis Darr and wife Tracy of Chillicothe, Missouri; one daughter, Leslie Wilson of Chillicothe, Missouri; several grandchildren; one brother, Steve Saale and wife Mary Kae of Chillicothe, Missouri; two sisters, Joyce Winkowski and husband Rick of Chillicothe, Missouri, and Terrie Toney and husband Dennis of Trenton, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Matthew James Darr; and one infant twin sister, Nita Faye Darr.
Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, March 4, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. There is no scheduled visitation. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, from 12 noon until 7:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Wheeling Cemetery, Wheeling, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rita Darr Memorial Fund and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
