Richard “Dick” Lee Triplett, age 80, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Saint Luke's Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri.
Dick was born the son of Thomas Lee and Jean Marie (Cox) Triplett, on October 25, 1944, in Trenton, Missouri. He was a 1962 graduate of Meadville, Missouri. After graduation, he attended the University of Missouri-Columbia, where he earned a dual degree in Ag Business and Business Management. He served in the United States Air Force Reserves. On June 10, 1967, he was united in marriage to Shirley Hapes, in Chillicothe, Missouri. Dick worked as a farmer with his father and brothers in his early years. He then worked as a car salesman for Chillicothe Ford, Love Green in Kirksville, Missouri, and then Milton Dodge Chrysler in Milton, Florida. Dick enjoyed playing cards and loved fishing and spending time with his kids and grandkids.
Dick is survived by his wife, Shirley, of the home; two sons, Thomas “Tom” Triplett (Theresa), of Hecla, Missouri and William “Bill” Triplett (Jamie) of Warrensburg, Missouri; five grandchildren, Jessica Young (Lee) of Prairieville, Louisiana, Sarah Samenus (Connor) of Chillicothe, Missouri, Wayne Triplett of Kansas City, Missouri, Jazzlynn Triplett of Warrensburg, Missouri and Lee Triplett of Chillicothe, Missouri; four great grandchildren, Evelyn and Pacey Samenus, Josie Triplett and Archer Young; and two brothers, Steve Triplett and Paul Triplett (Marsha) all of Chillicothe, Missouri. Dick was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jerry Triplett; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wayne and Berva Hapes.
Funeral Services will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. A scheduled visitation will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Monday, April 21, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friends may call at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Monday, April 21, 2025, from 12 noon until 7:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Alpha Cemetery, Alpha, Missouri.
