Richard David Townsend
Richard David Townsend, age 66, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, formerly of Tampa, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2019, at his sister's residence, Chillicothe, Missouri.
Rick was born and raised in Spanish Lake, Mo. relocating to Tampa, Florida about 13 years ago where he found love with Carol. Rick worked for UTi Worldwide Freight Company in both St. Louis and Tampa specializing in International Freight.
He was an avid lover of music being a drummer with a band in high school and if there was a dance floor, Rick was sure to be out theret. He enjoyed going to concerts, was a diehard Cardinal Baseball and St. Louis Blues Hockey fan. Rick loved arranging huge camping and float trips for groups of "CanoeHeads" earning the "Deep but not Profound" title of, "Grand Capoobah" which in the language of "Canoeculatin", translates into the "Great One."
Rick was passionate about practicing healthy, organic lifestyles taking classes to become a licensed Master Reiki Instructor. He volunteered at an organic farm and farmers market. He was a dedicated reader of all new discoveries in the field eagerly discussing this topic with peers.
Rick's sense of humor and stories, but most of all, his kind-heartedness will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Love and Light
Rick is survived by his Mother, Elizabeth (Betty) Townsend, (Heinsohn), of St. Peters Mo., Fiancée, Carol Bollinger of Tampa, Florida, Sister, Cindy Ballard of Chillicothe, Mo., Sister, Sandi Meyer (Dave) Wadlington of Florissant, Mo., Brother, John (Mary) Townsend of Lake St. Louis, Mo. along with a host of Nieces, Nephews and Great-Nephews. He was preceded in death by his Father, Richard C. Townsend, Sister Debbie Anderson and Niece Danielle Anderson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 403 Main Street, O'Fallon, Missouri 63366, on Saturday, January 11, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. A lantern service will be held at Sunset Park, 2300 Sunset Park Drive, Florissant, Missouri 63031, on Saturday, January 11, 2020, at 4:30 p.m. A private inurnment will be held at a later date at the Calvary Cemetery and Mausoleum, St. Louis, Missouri.
