Richard L. Phillips, age 82, a resident of Bolivar, Missouri, former resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2019, at Citizens Memorial Health Care Facility, Bolivar, Missouri.
Richard was born the son of Nelson L. and Vera Mae (Banks) Phillips on April 16, 1936, Chillicothe, Missouri. He was a graduate of Chillicothe High School. He served in the United States Air Force from 1955 until 1958, during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Peggy Goodman on June 15, 1957. To this union, three children were born. Richard was united in marriage to Beverly A. Denney on July 24, 1976, in Marionville, Missouri. She preceded him in death on October 10, 2003. He worked at Toledo Scales Company for many years. He also owned and operated Mid Mo Scales. Richard was a member of the First Christian Church, Bolivar, Missouri. He was also a member of the Ford Motor Club, and the Bolivar Elks Lodge #2828.
Survivors include one son, Perry Phillips of Madill, Oklahoma; two daughters, Tammy Landgraf and husband Ronny of Madill, Oklahoma, and Denise Faulkner and husband Perry of Yukon, Oklahoma; one stepdaughter, Cheryl Cubbage of Kansas City, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Ashley Landgraf, Ryan Landgraf, McKenzi Allen, Lizbeth Phillips, Elizabeth Rodabaugh, Bethany Phillips, Brett Faulkner, and Jessie Phillips; five great grandchildren; and two brothers, Tom Phillips of Chillicothe, Missouri, and Bill Phillips of St. Joseph, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beverly; daughter-in-law, Sandra Phillips; and one sister, Evelyn Phillips.
Graveside services will be held at a later date at Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Chillicothe Elks Lodge #656 Scholarship Fund and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
