Richard Isaac Knouse Richard Isaac Knouse, age 85, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, October 25, 2011. He was born on April 26, 1926, the son of Jessie and Emma May (Cassity) Knouse, in Chillicothe, Missouri. Richard attended school in Chillicothe, Missouri. He served in the United Stated Navy from 1944 until 1945 on the USS Radford as a fireman first class, during World War II. He received several medals during his military career including the Purple Heart. On February 26, 1946, he married Margaret Evelyn Hudson in Chillicothe, Missouri. She survives of the home. He drove a School Bus for the Chillicothe R-II School District for 32 years. He owned and operated Knouse and Son Recyclers until his death. He belonged to the VFW, American Legion, M.A.N. and the Chillicothe Booster Club. He served as a councilman of the third ward for ten years. Richard enjoyed all sports and served as an umpire for the local baseball teams for many years. He drove stock cars and was a medium weight boxer as a young man. He is also survived by two sons, Richard Lynn Knouse and wife Laieloni, John Steven Knouse and wife Tonia, all of Chillicothe, Missouri; one daughter Linda E. Pope and husband Peter of Chillicothe, Missouri; one brother Herbert Knouse of Jacksonville, Florida; one sister Rose Emmons of Chillicothe, Missouri; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brother, Jessie and Reuben, four sisters, Margaret, Beulah, Ruby and Elizabeth June; grandson Kevin Pope and great granddaughter Christina Sanders. Funeral Services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, October 28, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. There will be a family visitation on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri. Friends may call after 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Chillicothe, Missouri.
